for a celebration of the students’ work and a night of hilarious and inspiring theatre.
The Showcase is the culmination of 11 weeks of playwriting classes taught by GRP teaching artists to 110 students in three New Orleans schools: St. Mary’s Academy (6905 Chef. Menteur Hwy), Success Preparatory Academy (2011 Bienville Ave.), and The International School (1400 Camp St.). Starting in January, teaching artists team taught once a week in the fifth grades at St. Mary’s and Success, and in a seventh grade history class at ISL. The Play/Write classes familiarize students with the world of theater through performance games and exercises, and increase students’ reading and writing skills. The Showcase is the perfect culmination of these classes!
