This Sweaty City: Episode 3

By Goat in the Road (other events)

2 Dates Through May 03, 2014

ABOUT ABOUT

Goat in the Road Productions (GRP) premieres the third episode of its original serial radio drama This Sweaty City with two live performances at The Shadowbox Theatre (2400 St. Claude Avenue) at 8:00 pm on Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd. The performance will feature the voices of over 12 local performers and live original music, creating a magical realist radio drama that comes to life right in front of your own ears!

This Sweaty City is written by GRP members Chris Kaminstein, Shannon Flaherty, and William Bowling, and follows Peter Demeter, a late-night experimental radio DJ, fathered by the god Pan, as he explores a water-laden city, eerily similar to our dear crescent, in which bicycles have personalities and bureaucratic offices operate on moving steamboats. In episode 3, Peter’s radio personality takes off and Pan explores the inner workings of the government steamboats as he tracks down the missing Madame.

“This Sweaty City” is a two-part project: 1) an 8-part live performance series and 2) 8 episodic podcasts. GRP will produce new episodes for podcast and live performance 3 times a year. Episode 1: Dead Man Waking Up premiered in April 2013, and in the summer of 2013, it was featured as a part of the Contemporary Art Center’s exhibit, Tank Drama: Deliberations from the Wet Grave, a “potent representation of just some of the creative networks documenting, remembering, and re-visioning post-Katrina New Orleans” (CITATION). Episode 2: G.E. Bulova Electric Clock Radio was performed in November 2013 as part of the New Orleans Fringe Festival. Episode 1 is available as podcast at www.goatintheroadproductions.org.
